Guidance for winter flu vaccination programme published

The Chief Medical Officer, Director of Nursing and Chief Pharmaceutical Officer are emphasising the need to increase flu vaccination rates.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Chief Medical Officer, Director of Nursing and Chief Pharmaceutical Officer have today written to GPs and other health professionals emphasising the need to increase flu vaccination rates, particularly among:

  • those under 65 years of age who are at risk of the effects of flu because of other conditions
  • pregnant women
  • health and social care workers who have direct contact with patients

The Seasonal Flu plan - Winter 2012 to 2013, also published today, provides all health professionals involved in next winter’s flu programme with all the information they need to run an effective flu immunisation programme.
