The forum was established in 2010 to provide the patient perspective to inform and influence decisions made by the National Allied Health Professional Advisory Board (AHP PAB) concerning workforce planning and development for the allied health professions. This was the first group of its kind to be established and so Roswyn Hakesley-Brown CBE, Chair of the Patients’ Association and a national patient champion, was appointed as its chair.
The report looks at the highlights and outcomes of the forum during the year, including the creation of the forum itself, the development of a focus group based case study, which demonstrated the poor understanding of the role and function of the allied health professional by patients and the public, acting as a driver and catalyst in keeping patients and public at the centre of all initiatives and submitting evidence about national workforce issues.

- art therapists
- dramatherapists
- music therapists
- chiropodists/podiatrists
- dietitians
- occupational therapists
- orthoptists
- prosthetists and orthotists
- paramedics
- physiotherapists
- radiographers (therapeutic and diagnostic)
- speech and language therapists.
