Details

The letter from Dr Dan Poulter, parliamentary under secretary for health, contains details on how NHS trusts can apply for funding for investment and acquisition from the Department of Communities and Local Government.

The original deadline for registering interest was 30 April 2013. This has now been extended to 12 July 2013 to allow interested organisations to apply.

NHS organisations are to be given financial incentives and operational support to continue and accelerate their contribution to release surplus land for 100,000 homes by 2015.

The release of public sector land, to provide new homes, is a priority for government to help the housing market and the wider economy. The NHS is seen as a major contributor to this initiative.

Other support to accelerate disposal includes:

  • the Homes and Communities Agency’s new delivery partner panel
  • build now pay later model
  • advisory team for large applications

In addition, it asks the NHS how it can contribute to the government’s free schools and business incubator initiatives.
