A volunteering strategy for health and social care will articulate the key actions needed to address the perceived obstacles to making a refreshed vision for volunteering in health and social care a reality. The consultation will run until 30 September 2008, with a view to publication of a final strategy and implementation plan in early 2009.

The third sector funding and investment review is seeking to turn the current piecemeal arrangements for funding third sector organisations into a strategic portfolio of investments that are explicity linked with DH priorities.

Ministers have been reviewing the National Leadership Network for Health and Social Care. The Secretary of State has decided to put some alternative stakeholder arrangements in place. The National Leadership Network is being repositioned as an umbrella group of senior leaders and experts and its membership is being reviewed.
The NSPF's role is to help the voluntary, community and public sectors work effectively together to deliver responsive, high quality health and adult social care services for patients, service users and carers.
